Helping Find Workers:
Workforce Solutions Texoma realizes an available workforce is one of the most important things you’ll need, if your business is going to be successful. Because of that, we stand ready to help you in several ways.
- Identifying Critical First Employees – when you’re ramping up, there will be certain positions you’ll need to fill first. Workforce Solutions can assist you in filling them. Whether you want to advertise openly, or confidentially, we can help you get the word out, and help you find the right people.
- Hot Jobs Campaign – one of the ways Workforce Solutions helps get the word out about your hiring needs is through the Hot Jobs Campaign. By partnering with 2 local TV stations, KTEN and KXII; 5 local radio stations, KMKT, KMAD, KQDR, KGAF, and KFYN; and by using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Remind (text messaging), Workforce Solutions Texoma highlights 15 Hot Jobs each week across the 3 county area and beyond.
- Job Fairs – if your company needs access to a larger pool of applicants, and wants to meet with them face-to-face, you may want to consider a Job Fair.
o Workforce Solutions can host a private Job Fair for your company at one of our 3 Workforce Centers, at your company location, or at any place that’s convenient for you.
o Workforce Solutions Texoma partners with Grayson College, the Southern Oklahoma Workforce Board, the Choctaw Nation, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University each Spring and Fall for the Career Connection Job Fair. The Spring Career Connection is held in Texas, the Fall Career Connection is held in Oklahoma.
o Workforce Solutions Texoma also uses the Hot Jobs Campaign to publicize Job Fairs.
- Job Matching Through workintexas.com – By placing your Job Order in Work-In-Texas, Workforce Solutions gives you access to hundreds of thousands of registered job-seekers.
o We can place the Job Order for you, or you can place it yourself. It can have your company name attached, or it can be private – whichever works best for you.
o By posting your Job Fair in Work-In-Texas, we can outreach registered job-seekers to let them know about your event.
Providing Interviewing Space:
- Employer Resource Rooms – A lot of things have to happen when a business expands, or re-locates. Sometimes companies are ready to start doing business before their buildings are completed. Whether it’s for a day, or for a month, if you need space to get started interviewing people, Workforce Solutions can generally provide it in one of our 3 Workforce Centers. This no-cost service includes:
o Office Space,
o Access to Internet, fax, phones, and other critical business technology, and
o Professional Reception for Interviewees.
Providing Labor Market Information:
As the local representative of the Texas Workforce Commission, Workforce Solutions Texoma has access to all the tools maintained by the Labor Market and Career Information Division. We also have access to data from the Oklahoma Employment Security Division, and other sources, which can assist you in making hiring decisions.
- Current Unemployment Information – Workforce Solutions can provide a report outlining the Labor Force, Number Employed, Number Unemployed, and the Unemployment Rate, for any counties your company might be interested in, whether in Texas, Oklahoma, or elsewhere.
- Local Wages – Workforce Solutions can help you understand the local wage structure by providing wages for Workforce Development Areas in Texas and Oklahoma.
- Number of Workers Employed in Specific Occupations – In addition to Unemployment and Wage Data, Workforce Solutions Texoma can provide information about the number of workers in Texas and Oklahoma Workforce Areas, by Occupation.
- Number of Registered Job-Seekers in workintexas.com, by Occupation – By accessing data from Work-In-Texas, Workforce Solutions Texoma can provide a report of the number of people currently registered, who are interested in certain occupations. This data includes county of residence, and number of months of experience. This data is available for Texas Workforce Areas, and can be broken down by Workforce Center.
Helping Cover the Cost of Training:
Making sure your workers have the skills they need, in order to do their job, is important to your success. Because it’s important to you, it’s important to us. In some instances, Workforce Solutions Texoma can help your company access training funds to help defray some of the cost of training.
- Skills Development Fund Grants– Workforce Solutions Texoma has helped several companies access training funds through the Texas Skills Development Fund in partnership with Grayson College, and North Central Texas College. These grants can help cover a portion of the cost of customized training plans up to $500,000. The training can be delivered at one of the local colleges, at your place of business, or wherever you need the training to take place.
- Skills for Small Businesses – Not all companies are big, and neither are all training needs. Just because your training need isn’t big, doesn’t mean it isn’t real. If your company has fewer than 100 employees, and some of those workers need training that is listed in your local college catalog, a Skills for Small Business Grant might be the answer to making the training more affordable.
- Self-Sufficiency Grants – If your company can provide employment opportunities for those who are receiving public assistance, or are at risk of becoming dependent on public assistance, a Self-Sufficiency Grant could possibly help cover a portion of the cost of training them in the skills they need.
- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Funds – These funds can’t be used to help entice companies to re-locate, but once you have been established for a period of time, Workforce Solutions could possibly help cover short-term training for some of your workers. Participation in the WIOA Program is contingent on eligibility, and on availability of funds.
